This position leads portfolio-level risk assessments, develops predictive models, and presents findings to senior leadership and the Board of Directors. The role is critical in influencing credit risk, lending strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the Credit Union’s long-term financial stability.

Position Summary
The Portfolio Analyst II serves as a senior-level resource within the Portfolio Management team, providing advanced analysis, strategic insights, and recommendations to support the effective management of Meritrust’s $4 billion loan portfolio. This position leads portfolio-level risk assessments, develops predictive models, and presents findings to senior leadership and the Board of Directors. The role is critical in influencing credit risk, lending strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the Credit Union’s long-term financial stability.
Essential Functions
- Conduct advanced portfolio analysis, including stress testing, scenario modeling, and credit migration studies to evaluate portfolio health and emerging risks.
- Prepare and present portfolio performance, risk trends, and concentration analyses directly to the Executive Leadership Team and Board Committees.
- Develop, maintain, and refine statistical and predictive models to forecast loan performance, delinquency trends, profitability and credit losses.
- Provide strategic recommendations on loan product design, risk appetite, and portfolio diversification strategies.
- Lead initiatives to improve portfolio reporting systems, dashboards, and data integrity in collaboration with IT, Business Intelligence, and Finance teams.
- Partner with senior leaders across Business Lending, Risk, Consumer Lending, and Mortgage to assess market conditions and align portfolio strategy with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with NCUA regulations, credit union lending policies, and applicable laws governing commercial and consumer lending.
- Serve as subject matter expert for auditors, regulators, and external examiners, providing timely and accurate data and analysis.
- Mentor and coach Portfolio Analysts and junior team members, sharing best practices in credit risk assessment and portfolio monitoring.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement enhancements to strengthen the credit union’s risk management framework.
