Quality Inspector - First Article Inspection (FAI)

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector – First Article Inspection (FAI) to support inspection of PCBAs and electronic products. This role is responsible for verifying the first completed units prior to production release to ensure assemblies meet engineering documentation, customer specifications, and IPC standards.

This position works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify discrepancies early in the manufacturing process and prevent nonconforming products from entering production.

 Responsibilities

• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on PCB assemblies.
• Verify assemblies against assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and revision-controlled documentation.
• Inspect component placement, orientation, polarity, and solder quality.
• Perform in-process inspections to verify product quality during manufacturing.
• Use microscopes, magnification tools, calipers, and AOI systems for inspection.
• Document nonconformances and communicate findings to production and engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with IPC-A-600 and IPC-A-610 standards.
• Follow ESD handling procedures and applicable safety protocols.

 Qualifications

• 1–3 years of inspection experience in electronics, PCB, or manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-600 required.
• Ability to read technical drawings, assembly instructions, and BoMs.
• Experience using microscopes and inspection tools.
• Strong attention to detail.

 Preferred

• Experience performing First Article Inspection in a manufacturing environment.
