Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Ability to instruct students and manage classroom behaviors
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES International BaccalaureateTeachers attend IB training when applicable. MWS pays for the cost of IB training that is related to the teacher's content area. This may be during the summer.
Instructional Strategies- Make instructional decisions based on what is best for students.
- Develop and implement unit and daily plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Embrace cultural diversity to enhance the learning experiences of students.
- Deliver high quality instruction that engages each student.
- Provide opportunities and guidance for students to explore and develop their unique identities.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits through explicit and implicit use of IB Approaches to Learning skills.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal assessment.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Create, maintain, and support a learning environment that is academically, emotionally, and physically safe.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain a professional relationship and treat all students, parents, colleagues, and community members with respect.
- Establish and maintain open communication via conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Respond to all forms of communication, such as emails and phone calls, in a timely manner taking no more than 48 hours.
- Participate in collaborative planning across the continuum to create vertical and horizontal alignment.
- Participate in researched-based professional development activities that directly impact learning.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as requested.
- Work with the coordinator to identify, develop, and reflect on unit plans.
- Teachers are expected to complete a given number of supervisory duty positions.
- Teachers are required to offer two tutorial sessions a week.
- Teachers are expected to attend Back to School/Open House Nights.
- Additional after-school activities and trips are expected to build relationships between teachers and students.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors. Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move music equipment/instruments, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Salary : $55,500 - $75,150
