Job DescriptionAssist the teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the direct supervision of a certified classroom teacher to support student learning and classroom operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional support and reinforcement of teacher-led lessons under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
- Conduct instructional exercises and activities as assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
- Assist in maintaining effective classroom management and a positive learning environment.
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials, resources, and classroom displays.
- Help maintain a neat, safe, and orderly classroom environment.
- Assist the teacher with maintaining administrative records and preparing required documentation as directed.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunchroom duty, playground duty, and other assigned activities.
- Communicate observations, concerns, or relevant information regarding students to the supervising teacher in a timely manner.
- Support student discussion, collaboration, and reflection during learning activities as guided by the classroom teacher.
- Support instruction for students with diverse learning needs, including implementing teacher-directed instructional supports and accommodations as assigned.
- Follow all campus safety procedures and assist with emergency drills and student supervision protocols.
- Report concerns related to student safety, health, or well-being in accordance with campus procedures and state requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and school policies.
- Participate in staff development, required training, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Follow campus policies, procedures, and established chain of command.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or campus administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet all Texas public charter school employment requirements
- Pass required criminal history background check
- Experience working with elementary-aged students
- Familiarity with inquiry-based or IB/PYP instructional environments
- Experience supporting classroom instruction or student supervision
Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Constant contact with students and staff.
