Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Contract duration: 12 month contract with potential to extend or convert
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support manufacturing operations through equipment, process, and facility improvements. This role will focus on improving manufacturing efficiency, quality, capacity, and equipment reliability while supporting new product introductions and ongoing process improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles, hands-on problem-solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with production and technical teams. This is a hands-on role that combines engineering analysis, equipment and process improvement, project work, and support on the manufacturing floor.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, test, and improve mechanical equipment, tools, processes, and systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing equipment, processes, facility systems, and production methods.
- Analyze manufacturing requirements and provide recommendations for equipment, processes, training, and engineering designs.
- Investigate equipment failures and production issues, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and implement standardized assembly and manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate projects and prepare feasibility studies, project plans, and recommendations.
- Analyze requirements and develop specifications for new or replacement tooling and manufacturing equipment.
- Support equipment acquisition and implementation activities.
- Assist with capital planning, forecasting, and reporting related to new product introductions, capacity increases, equipment replacement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve utilization of manufacturing and office space.
- Support validation activities and document results, corrective actions, and process changes.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve technical and process issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and other process improvement methodologies.
- Create and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving manufacturing, quality, maintenance, safety, logistics, and engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- 2–4 years of engineering experience preferred.
- Internship experience may be considered toward relevant experience.
- Experience with mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, equipment, or process improvement.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes, and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to analyze technical information and develop practical recommendations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and technical reports.
- Experience with CAD or other engineering design software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, organized, and safety-minded.
- Comfortable working directly with production teams in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Creo, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Management Systems, or related methodologies.
- Project management experience.
- PMP certification.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification, such as Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and process validation.
