Prior Authorization & Medical Records Specialist - Part-Time/Hybrid

Meridian Park Radiation Oncology Care
Tualatin, OR Part Time
POSTED ON 9/15/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/13/2027

Company Overview
Meridian Park Radiation Oncology Care has been a trusted provider of personalized cancer treatment since 1984. We are dedicated to delivering compassionate, community-focused care that empowers patients throughout their healing journey.

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized medical administrative professional to assist primarily with prior authorizations and medical records.

This is a part-time position well suited to someone who has worked in a medical office, specialty practice, hospital, authorization department, or referral department and is comfortable working independently and following matters through to completion.

The position will initially require on-site training in our Tualatin clinic. Once trained and comfortable with our systems and workflows, a portion of the work may be performed remotely.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Submit and track insurance prior-authorization requests for radiation oncology services.
  • Follow authorization requests through payer and utilization-management portals and proactively address outstanding requirements.
  • Obtain medical records, pathology reports, imaging reports, physician notes, and other documentation required for patient care and authorization.
  • Communicate with referring physician offices, hospitals, imaging centers, insurance companies, and utilization-management organizations.
  • Identify missing information and follow up until documentation or authorization is complete.
  • Maintain accurate authorization status and documentation within the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Assist with denial follow-up and authorization-related documentation under the direction of clinic staff and physicians.
  • Coordinate peer-to-peer reviews or other payer follow-up when required.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Provide occasional administrative support related to referral intake and patient records as needed.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with medical prior authorizations, referrals, medical records, insurance verification, or specialty-practice administration.
  • Experience submitting and tracking authorizations through commercial insurance and utilization-management portals.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Basic familiarity with medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, or insurance terminology.
  • Oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, surgery, or other specialty-practice experience is helpful but not required.

What We Are Looking For

The most important qualities for this position are accuracy, persistence, organization, and follow-through.

We are looking for someone who does not simply submit an authorization request and wait for a response. The successful candidate will actively track outstanding items, recognize when information is missing, communicate with insurers and referring offices, and take ownership of getting the matter resolved.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently while also communicating clearly with physicians, clinical staff, patients, referring offices, and insurance companies.

Why This Position May Be Attractive

This is an opportunity for an experienced medical-office professional who prefers a part-time schedule and would like the flexibility of a hybrid position after completing initial training.
