Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Lead the coordination and completion of MDS assessments in accordance with federal and state regulations, including CMS guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff, physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to gather comprehensive clinical information.
- Review medical records, clinical documentation, and care plans to ensure accuracy and completeness for each assessment.
- Ensure timely submission of MDS assessments within mandated deadlines to support proper reimbursement and quality reporting.
- Conduct ongoing education for staff on MDS updates, coding requirements, and regulatory changes related to the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI).
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of MDS 3.0 process, including accurate coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 codes and CPT coding for procedures.
- Proficiency in managing care documentation within PCC (PointClickCare).
- Strong understanding of Medicare regulations, NCQA standards, and utilization management protocols.
- Experience with hospital settings, skilled nursing facilities, or home care environments; ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with clinical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical records review to support precise assessments.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and staff education on documentation best practices.
