Responsibilities: Operate machine tools, Lathes, milling machines, grinders. Reads blueprints or job orders to obtain product specifications and tooling instructions. Positions and secures work pieces to holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers or fixtures using clamps and wrenches. Applies knowledge of machining methods. Uses measuring instruments, sets specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut in accordance with product specifications. Consults management to analyze product information. Designs fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet special needs. Communicates effectively and participates as a team player. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Physical demands: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
