We are seeking an experienced Commercial Landscaping Project Manager to lead large-scale, high-profile landscape installation projects.
You will manage field operations, build client relationships, and protect profit margins for projects ranging from $50,000 to $500,000.
Core Responsibilities
Project Execution & Field Operations
- Drive safety culture by enforcing OSHA standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance.
- Coordinate logistical demands, ensuring timely delivery of plant material, bulk materials, and hardscape supplies for projects in Washington, DC, VA, and MD.
- Enforce quality control in accordance with project blueprints, architectural specifications, and local horticultural guidelines.
Financial Management & Estimating
- Manage project budgets, tracking labor hours, material yields, and equipment costs to maximize profitability.
- Execute change orders, identifying scope growth and negotiating pricing with customers.
- Review monthly billings, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, and schedule of values to maintain positive project cash flow.
- Collaborate with estimators during pre-construction to review bids, evaluate site conditions, and value-engineer designs.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, landscape architects, property managers, and customers.
- Attend site progress meetings to provide proactive, professional updates on project timelines.
- Resolve field disputes and scheduling conflicts diplomatically to preserve long-term client relationships.
Position Requirements
Experience & Education
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of dedicated project management experience in commercial landscaping or civil/commercial site construction.
- Project Portfolio: Proven track record managing individual contracts valued at over $100,000.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but equivalent field experience accepted).
Technical Skills & Licenses
- Software Proficiencies: Experience with landscape/construction management software, e.g., Aspire.
- Plan Reading: Ability to interpret landscape, grading, irrigation, MEP, and civil engineering blueprints.
- Driver's License: Clean driving record and valid license for frequent travel to job sites across D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $85,000 base salary (commensurate with experience).
