The Team Lead will schedule, organize, and provide work directions to meet the production goals of the department. Assured policy and procedures are maintained according to established guidelines. Serves as liaison and resource for staff and customers regarding sterilization, processing of surgical instruments, and sterile instrument storage. This is a working Team Lead position.

Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Sterile Processing Lead.
As a Sterile Processing Lead at MercyOne, is responsible for the operation of a shift within the Sterile Processing Department. The Team Lead will schedule, organize, and provide work directions to meet the production goals of the department. Assured policy and procedures are maintained according to established guidelines. Serves as liaison and resource for staff and customers regarding sterilization, processing of surgical instruments, and sterile instrument storage. This is a working Team Lead position.
Schedule
- Hours will vary; includes weekends and holidays
- Perform random Q&A inspections of instrument sets, case carts etc.
- Consistently ensures that instrument sets are complete prior to sterilization, record all missing items that are not replaced in instrument sets.
- Understands the basic use of instrumentation.
- Keeps an accurate log of all doctors’ instrument processed and returned to Sterile Processing
- Ensure staff follow cleaning procedures according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Maintains established inventory of supplies and instruments.
- Ensure staff stocks supplies in proper order (FIFO)
- Assembles of no less than 35-40 instruments sets per day.
- Displays complete knowledge in identifying surgical instrumentation.
- Able to teach and assist in the training of CS employees.
- Requires little or no supervision in the daily operations of the department.
- High School diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience in a Sterile Processing Department with one year in a lead or charge role
- 2 years of instrumentation control.
- Experience with inventory control, tracking systems, purchasing, and use of computers, decontamination, and sterilization systems.
- Completion of Sterile Processing Technician Certification - CRCST
