POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for all aspects of internal and external financial and tax reporting. Responsible for overseeing accounting, audit, budget and forecasting for the consolidated health ministry (HM).
Essential Functions
- Analyze and present financial reports, business activity reports and ad hoc reports in order to report and manage the RHM's business.
- Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements to key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process. Liaison with the external auditors and/or System Office Financial Reporting Team. Assess and implement any changes necessary.
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting process in conjunction with local leadership and System Office Budget and Planning Teams.
- Oversee the production of all financial plans and/or analysis.
- Monitor financial performance in relationship to budget and keep senior leadership abreast of the RHM's financial status.
- Manage organizational cash flow and financial forecasting.
- Ensures that legal and compliance requirements are met regarding financial reporting.
- Maintains a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, System Office and local accounting policies and procedures, reimbursement regulations, tax regulations and labor laws to ensure the medical center's accounting and reporting practices are within those guidelines.
- Develops and ensures internal controls necessary to adequately protect the assets of the medical center are in place.
- Leads change by assuring the requirements from accounting, reimbursement, and budget are met to support organizational goals.
- Supervises managers who oversee financial reporting for all lines of business.
- Continuously assesses and improves the team's performance based on, but not limited to, the process improvement initiatives/metrics and culture of safety and colleague engagement data.
- Masters' degree in business or related field is required.
- CPA is desirable.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in various areas of accounting and health care financial reporting is required.
- A minimum of three years' experience supervising a team is required.
- Must have excellent computer skills in a wide array of software applications including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, accounting, account payable and payroll applications.
- Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all colleagues.
