POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Psychology at Mercyhurst University (Erie, PA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor position in psychology to being August 2026. Candidates from all specialty areas may apply, however,
priority will be given to those with specialization in clinical/health psychology or social psychology.
Standard contracts at the university run 9 months (August 15-May 15) with 12-credit hours per semester load.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Courses to be taught will include those within the specialization area. Additionally, courses taught in the service of
the department may include Introduction to Psychology and Research Methods. Departmental and college duties
include student advising, recruitment, and academic committees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in psychology is required. For clinical candidates, preference will be given to
candidates with practical work completed in candidate’s area of expertise as demonstrated by research, publication,
practicum, internship, and/or residency experiences.
Exceptional ABD candidates with a documented plan of completion date prior to 8/1/2026 will be considered. The
successful candidate will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and demonstrate the potential for research
productivity and/or community engagement. Candidates should be dedicated to teaching undergraduates in our
liberal arts core, major, and minor courses.
