Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Mentor/Respite Worker to provide vital support and companionship to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, and other health conditions. Duties
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and respite care to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or other health challenges
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe patient behavior to ensure safety and well-being
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare professionals
- Engage clients in social activities, recreational outings, or therapeutic exercises to promote mental engagement and emotional health
- Maintain a safe environment through cleaning duties, infection control practices, and adherence to health protocols such as CPR and First Aid standards
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, community care settings is highly preferred
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous.
- Strong observational skills for patient safety monitoring and reporting changes in condition accurately
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism, emotional dis regulation
- Excellent communication skills combined with patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward caregiving roles
