Position: Surgical Technologist II
Department: Operating Room - Mercy Carthage
Hours / Shift: PRN/As-Needed, Days, 6:30am-4pm
Overview:
Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
Job Duties:
- Anticipates surgeon and operative team members needs regarding care delivery, maintaining sterile technique and comfort.
- Assist surgeon in a knowledgeable, efficient and courteous manner.
- Knows procedure and/or utilizes preference cards to assure instrument and equipment needs are available so team can stay patient focused
- Inspects instruments and power equipment prior to use to assure operational order and troubleshoots, reports, and removes faulty instrument and equipment from service.
- Performs or assists in sterile preps as needed/requested by monitoring aseptic techniques of surgical team members at field, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling location of contaminated instruments and supplies
Qualifications:
- Education: High-School Diploma or GED.
- Licensure: Non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.
- Experience: Non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.
- Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
