Serves as a bridge to augment the growth of the surgical technologist student as she/he transitions from the student role to that of a career surgical technologist.Position Details:
Under the observation of the surgical tech, Operating Room Nurse or Surgeon performs a variety of preparatory, scrubbing, and related serves necessary to provide patient service in the operating room.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: High-School Diploma or GED are required. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited or approved Surgical Tech program. Must be in process of completing a clinical rotation or be an active participant in a Mercy on-the-job surgical tech training program. Must be within one semester of completion of the accredited Surgical Tech program.
Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Physical Requirements:
• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
