Overview:
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Unit: Med/Tele | 22 Beds | 6:1 Ratio

Unit Overview:

Our Med/Tele unit cares for a diverse patient population, including post‑operative patients with chest tubes or surgical drains, individuals requiring peritoneal dialysis, and cardiac patients on non‑titrated drips. This unit offers excellent exposure for nurses interested in cardiac, neuro critical care, procedural nursing, or PACU/post‑op career paths.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide patient‑centered care and involve patients/families in decision‑making

• Assess and document patient needs, education, and care plans

• Perform bedside hand‑off reports and maintain strong communication across the care team

• Monitor diagnostics, labs, and patient status to support safe clinical decision‑making

• Participate in unit huddles, process improvement, and professional development

• Delegate tasks appropriately and support team‑based care

• Complete annual competencies and maintain required certifications

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)

• Active RN licensure (or ability to obtain) in the hiring state/compact

• Required: BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire

• May Be Required Depending on Unit: ACLS, PALS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, or other unit‑specific certifications

Preferred:

• Previous Med/Tele or acute care experience
