The Orthopedic Technician, while under the supervision of the physician/surgeon assists in rendering care and providing services to the orthopedic patient. The Orthopedic Technician is a specifically trained allied health individual in the field of orthopedic medicine.Position Details:
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Experience: Minimum 2 years as orthopedic technician, unless certified as an OTC by the National Board of Certification of Orthopedic Technologists. Previous physician office experience.
Other: Eligible for staff privileges at hospitals where physician/surgeons work. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology. Competency in applying casts and splints and surgical technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Post-secondary certificate or associate's degree as orthopedic technician from a technology program
Experience: 3 years of Orthopedic experience including casting, bracing, splinting, suture removal, pin removal, dressing changes and wound care
Certifications: Certified as an OTC by the National Board of Certification
