As a Staff Accountant – AP you will be is responsible for the maintenance of assigned general ledger accounts and is accountable for the timely preparation of monthly journal entries and the reconciliation of the accounts and related schedules. Investigates inconsistencies in data and procedures, ensures accuracy, and makes recommendations for changes in systems and processes.
How You’ll Contribute
- Works with the Accounts Payable processes, performing higher level functions.
- Assist with timely completion of month-end processes.
- Prepare and input journal entries (monthly, adjusting, and recurring).
- Utilize and analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and or verifying information.
- Assist in preparing reports.
- Prepare audit work papers for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Assist with special projects as requested.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize tasks.
- Assist with USD and foreign transactions.
- Perform other duties and ad hoc projects, as required.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required with prior administrative accounting experience. Bachelor’s degree is not required, however, is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience (non-profit environment a plus).
- Experience working with accounting database systems and applications.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
Salary : $50,000 - $56,000
