This is a 12-week limited term opportunity.
The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of audio and visual equipment for meetings and events on the ship and
ashore, including the recruitment and training of volunteer AV operators from the crew.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
  • Ensure the AV equipment in the various venues and public viewing areas is operational for regular meetings and special events.
  • Train AV operators (volunteers) for all venues and provide hands-on oversight.
  • Schedule AV operators to support regular meetings and special events.
  • Maintain an inventory of AV equipment and spares. Oversee an effective sign-out procedure for equipment.
  • Troubleshoot AV equipment and other AV issues and perform necessary routine maintenance.
  • Facilitate the repair or replacement of any nonfunctioning AV equipment and install or assist in the installation of any new or upgraded AV equipment.
  • Maintain documentation of AV systems ("ProPresenter" and others), records, logs, and procedures.
  • Record all important meetings and teachings to be placed in the relevant online digital library.
  • Edit teaching material, transfer material into usable formats (DVD, iTunes, etc.) to support crew.
  • Operate, manage, and facilitate the use of the sound desk in the International Lounge (AV tech workstation) and other AV equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Other
Work hours may include the occasional weekend and evening dependent on scheduled events.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements)

  • Understand the function and maintenance of audiovisual equipment including amplifiers, mixers, equalizers, microphones, speaker, projectors,
cameras, televisions, and lighting.
  • Ability to effectively operate AV equipment for events and meetings.
  • Ability to train others in the operation of audiovisual equipment.
  • Ability to schedule, organize and coordinate people and equipment.
Education and Experience
  • The requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required:
  • Bachelor's degree in sound engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • At least two years' experience in the operation of AV for events and meetings, preferably in an organizational setting.
