Role Description This full-time, on-site Special Education Teacher role is based in Allentown, PA. The Special Education Teacher will design and deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and developmental needs. Daily responsibilities include adapting curriculum, creating structured and engaging classroom environments, implementing behavior support strategies, and integrating life skills and social-emotional learning into instruction. The teacher will assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and collaborate closely with families, related service providers, and school staff to support holistic growth. The role also involves participating in IEP meetings, contributing to school-wide activities, and supporting the spiritual and character development of students in alignment with the school’s mission.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Special Education and experience supporting learners with a range of Disabilities, including developmental, intellectual, and learning differences.
- Demonstrated Teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, differentiation, and assessment for diverse learners.
- Experience working with Middle School–age students and comfort adapting instruction for varied age and ability levels.
- Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and external partners, both in writing and in person.
- Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain), with a bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Ability to uphold and support the mission and values of a Catholic school environment while welcoming and respecting individuals of all backgrounds.
- Experience with IEP development and implementation, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with therapists and support staff is strongly preferred.
- Patience, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and safe classroom for all students.
