As a key member of our leadership team, the Director, Environmental Services is responsible for enthusiastically leading our housekeeping and laundry department to ensure the established organizational culture, core values, guiding principles and operational standards are consistently met. The Director, Environmental Services reports to the Executive Director and keeps the Executive Director apprised of all significant happenings within the department.The Director, Environmental Services is responsible for all duties of the department operations and is ultimately responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in all areas of our community. The Director promotes an atmosphere that insures resident and employee satisfaction and teamwork. Responsibilities include: employee hiring, training and development, performance management, scheduling, payroll, purchasing, financial planning and management, intra- and inter-departmental communications, and collaboration with both employees and residents. This position requires strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage critical conversations, including coaching and counseling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a necessity. Experience teaching, supervising, and mentoring multilingual and multicultural staff is required. The Director also provides seamless employee relations with contract employees, ensuring proper training and culture integration. Establishes safe working conditions through appropriate training and monitoring of the employee’s work.Qualifications & SkillsPosition requires a minimum of five years of experience in environmental services with at least three years of supervisory experience, preferably in hospitality or healthcare. Experience working with older adults preferred.Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with employees, residents, guests, and vendors.Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.Computer friendly with a strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment and make independent decisions as needed.Mercy Ridge employees work in an environment that demands exceptional performance yet reaps great rewards.
