General Description:
The Summer Camp Teacher works directly with children by providing instruction regarding the following skills: motor, creative, manipulative, imaginative, rhythmic and language. The Summer Camp Teacher also plans and facilitates science activities and experiences which tend to promote effectively the physical, mental, social, emotional and aesthetic development of children of preschool age. The Summer Camp Teacher Teacher is responsible for documenting all activities, objectives and daily plans and maintaining a record of this information.
DUTIES:
- Plans, schedules and coordinates Summer Enrichment activities
- Supervises the staff and volunteers for the classroom
- Prepares learning experiences, both planned and informal
- Plans free play—outdoors, weather permitting
- Develops activities including gross motor skill development and fine motor skill development.
- Includes the following activities in the schedule: perceptual activities, language arts, math, science, social science and intercultural activities
- Provides instruction in the arts including music, art and dramatic play
- Provides the students with a strong foundation regarding nutrition, health and safety
- Keeps records or other necessary paperwork as appropriate to the role
- Maintains safety and order of the activity spaces
- Assists the Director of the Childcare Programs as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (Preferred)
- High School Diploma
- 5 years of experience in working with children of all ages
