The LCSN facilitates access to low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening, provides education and support, ensures timely follow-up, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Identify and enroll eligible patients into the lung cancer screening program based on current guidelines (e.g., USPSTF, CMS).
- Educate patients on the benefits, risks, and process of LDCT screening for lung cancer.
- Coordinate and schedule screening appointments, follow-up imaging, and referrals as needed.
- Track and monitor patients through the continuum of care from initial screening through follow-up and diagnosis.
- Maintain and update lung cancer screening registry, ensuring compliance with accreditation and reporting requirements (e.g., ACR Lung Cancer Screening Registry).
- Serve as a liaison between patients, primary care providers, radiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide smoking cessation counseling and refer to tobacco treatment programs when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and federal/state guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and program evaluation.
- Assist with community outreach and education efforts to promote lung cancer screening.
- Must posses high school diploma or GED
- 2 years of related experience preferable
- Must be willing to obtain a Non-Clinical Navigator Certification
