Mercy Housing is investing in the next phase of growth for the Mountain Plains region’s philanthropic program, including expanding major gifts capacity and refining donor engagement strategies.

The Regional VP of Philanthropy leads and advances the fundraising strategy for Mercy Housing’s Mountain Plains region. In partnership with the regional Board of Directors and local and national leadership, this role identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards philanthropic support from a range of funding sources including corporations, foundations, workplace giving campaigns, government programs, faith-based organizations, and major individual donors.

This position also oversees regional fundraising and administrative staff, and coordinates the development and management of departmental operating and capital budgets. The Regional VP monitors performance against budget and ensures fundraising strategies support the region’s broader goals.

Pay: $135,000-150,000 annually, dependent on experience. 

This is a hybrid role based in Denver, CO.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, planned giving, endowment gifts, government contracts and grants, corporate partnerships, and individual giving.

  • Meet or exceed annual regional philanthropic goals, with particular focus on individual donors, new foundation grants, and corporate sponsorships.

  • Partner with Resident Services to align fundraising efforts with program priorities, ensuring philanthropic strategies reflect resident needs and program goals.

  • Collaborate with Resident Services on storytelling, impact measurement, and donor engagement to elevate the visibility of resident-centered programs and secure sustainable funding.

  • Develop strategies to inspire program volunteers to become long-term supporters and donors.

  • Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and steward major donors, including researching prospects and managing donor introductions.

  • Maintain regular and meaningful engagement with priority donors and prospects through meetings, written communication, events, and other interactions.

  • Provide leadership in planning and executing regional fundraising events, press opportunities, and volunteer engagement for institutional partners.

  • Develop stories and content for regional and national communications including newsletters, annual reports, fact sheets, and other donor materials.

  • Partner with staff, Board members, and key volunteers to develop and implement strategies for cultivating and soliciting new donors, planned giving prospects, and increasing support from existing donors.

  • Lead the departmental budget planning and review process in coordination with Real Estate Development, Resident Services, and Resource Development teams.

  • Prepare financial projections and updates for quarterly business reviews and communicate results clearly to staff, leadership, and board members.

  • Work collaboratively across teams and comply with all company policies and procedures.

Competencies

  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.

  • Business acumen, diplomacy, and discretion when working with donors, partners, and leadership.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

    • Five (5) years of experience leading fundraising programs for a nonprofit organization.

    • Demonstrated experience managing staff.

    • Experience with major gifts, planned giving, direct mail campaigns, and fundraising or sponsorship events.

    • Experience managing budgets and financial reporting.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CFRE certification.

    • Master’s degree in a related field.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also demonstrating initiative and independence.

    • Experience with endowment campaigns preferred (not required).

    Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
