What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN position at Mercy Health?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides quality patient care by performing treatments and procedures according to established protocols.
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment
- Administers specified medications as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.
- Responds in a safe and timely manner to patient requests and reports significant observations to the RN promptly.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the patient's plan of care and delivers care safely and within established standards and guidelines. Participates in planning for patient's care by providing input to the RN and under the direction of the RN, assists in implementing the patient care plan.
- Demonstrates knowledge of established hospital and nursing policies. Identifies emergency situations, initiates nursing measures as appropriate within scope of practice in emergency situations and seeks assistance and direction as necessary.
- Instructs patients in self-care according to the teaching plan and the directions of the RN. Documents this aspect of the patient's care. Participates in QA & I.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR
Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.
Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.
Experience in clinical setting preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in state of practice
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days
