Charge Nurse Surgery

As a Charge Nurse in the Surgery Department at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, you will provide oversight of the activities on a nursing unit during a specific shift including serving as a resource to staff, directing patient flow, assuring appropriate utilization of resources, and providing oversight for the provision of quality care in a manner satisfying to patients.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives. To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

Responsibilities:

• Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education.
• Evaluates care given by staff.
• Coaches to improve care.
• Ensures standard of care is maintained.

Minimum:

• Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty.
• ADN, Diploma or foreign equivalent. 
• Current AZ State RN License in good standing.
• American Heart Association BLS 
• American Heart Association ACLS card must be obtained within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

• Charge Nurse experience
• BSN
