Job Summary
Jointly reporting to the President of Cristo Rey High School Sacramento and the President and CEO of Mercy Foundation, the Director of Advancement (“Director”) leads Cristo Rey High School’s major gift program. This includes providing strategic guidance and direction with and focus on identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual and corporate major gift donors.
Primary Responsibilities
In collaboration with Mercy Foundation’s major gifts team, the Director is responsible for leading Cristo Rey High School’s major gifts program, spearheading annual growth in the number of major gifts ($10,000 ) and managing a donor portfolio of approximately 100 active high-capacity donors and prospective donors.
Working within the operational framework of Mercy Foundation’s major gift program, the Director will:
- Develop, foster, and maintain strong relationships with donors, colleagues and School and Foundation leadership
- Identify donors and establish and maintain personal relationships
- Assist Mercy Foundation Grant Writer in providing leads and information for grant submissions and follow-up
- Cultivate new and unique philanthropic initiative opportunities
- Track individual donor contacts and update donor profiles on a regular basis
The Director, in collaboration with Mercy Foundation leadership, will work with Cristo Rey’s administrative team to:
- Develop annual and long-term strategic fundraising plans in accordance with the school’s mission and overall marketing strategy for approval by the President and the Board of Directors
- Provide progress reports to school’s President and Board of Directors
- Represent the school at related public functions
The ideal candidate will have:
- a strong personal alignment with the Cristo Rey mission
- significant senior level experience in development, ideally including campaign experience
- a successful record of developing relationships and soliciting major gifts
- exceptional interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
- the ability to develop and implement strategic plans
A bachelor degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Range: $100,000 - $120,000
