Registered Dental Assistant
Supervisor: Mercy Clinic Dentist

Part Time 20-25 hours per week
Starting salary $15/hour (Depend on experience)
Mercy Clinic is a Christian charitable clinic that serves uninsured adults with an income not greater than 200% of national poverty level. We seek to share Christ’s love and compassion by providing health care, spiritual care, and assistance in self-help to the underserved populations of south Fort Worth. As dental services expand, the clinic is seeking someone who has a desire to serve the community through the provision of dental care with the love of Christ. This is a unique opportunity to learn from the dentist and receive one on one training in various procedures and skills. As services expand, this position has potential to expand to a fulltime position.
Position Summary
The Bilingual Registered Dental Assistant provides chair-side assistance to the dentist on site and performs other clerical duties that include but are not limited to, greeting patients, and responding to inquiries, obtaining medical and prescription history, and assisting the patient in scheduling follow-up appointments and future communication. The dental assistant must be fluent in English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and record patient vital signs, weight, and collect specific observational data.
- Prepare operatories.
- Retracts patient’s cheek, tongue, and other tissue.
- Take radiographs of the mouth, gums, jaws, and/or teeth.
- Apply topical medications; places rubber dams in patient’s mouth; removes excess
cement from and adjacent to crowns, and bridges.
- Perform infection control procedures.
- Demonstrate oral care procedures and technique, chart patient’s mouth.
- Flush evacuation system with chemical cleaners.
- Complete reports and maintain records
- Schedule recalls and appointments.
- Order supplies and equipment, keep accurate inventory, order repairs on dental
equipment, research prices and equipment specifications.
- Package and sterilize equipment.
- Interact with patients with respect, compassion, and concern.
- May perform other duties as required.
- Translate for Spanish speaking patients.
Expanded Skills (Preferred but not required)
- Practice coronal polishing, mechanically polish restorations.
- Place and remove temporary restorations.
- Monitor patients while nitrous oxide is being administered.
- Apply pit and fissure sealants.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma plus registered dental assistant program
Experience: Fluent in English and Spanish.
Licenses/certifications: Certified to practice as a Dental Assistant as stipulated by the laws and administrative rules of the Texas State Board of Dentistry; CPR and X-ray certification required.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
