Description
Position Purpose: As a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) at Mercy Care Atlanta, you will empower individuals experiencing mental health challenges by facilitating structured peer support activities. You'll foster recovery, socialization, self-advocacy, and wellness, helping consumers live as independently as possible.
What You Will Do
- Lead day-to-day operations of Peer Support Services Groups, offering activities that encourage self-directed recovery and hope.
- Help consumers develop personal recovery goals and relapse prevention plans.
- Assist the Behavioral Health Coordinator in maintaining a safe, structured recovery environment.
- Guide individuals in exploring strengths, managing illness, and developing community living skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Certified as a Georgia Peer Specialist or CARES Specialist (or eligibility within 6 months).
- Minimum one year of experience in day services programs, group facilitation, and working with underserved individuals.
- Must be in recovery from Mental Illness or Dual Diagnosis for at least one year prior to hire.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License may be required.
