The American Journey Experience Membership and Member Services Representative provides a positive visitor experience through prompt, pleasant and courteous service. It processes transactions for the American Journey Experience including, but not limited to, general admission, memberships, classes, events, tours and merchandise sales.
General Duties and Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides unparalleled customer service to visitors, staff, and all American Journey Experience customers.
- Proactively seeks to be knowledgeable of all The American Journey Experience history, exhibits, programs, and events to reflect the experience and brand.
- Creates bookings and process sales for general admission, classes, tours, events and merchandise offered at the American Journey Experience.
- Process all things with membership sales, including receiving payment, recording member data in Raiser’s Edge and printing member cards; assists members with ticketing, merch, etc…
- Assists with account management for all members and non-members; runs daily attendance and membership reports.
- Oversees wheelchair and stroller checkout while manning the Member Enrollment and Information Desks.
- Ensures the brochures, rack cards, etc. remain stocked and the Information Desk is maintained.
- Greets all guests and contacts the appropriate staff.
- Able to work regular admissions hours, as well as operate during special events, including evenings and weekends only as necessary.
- Works with all departments to assure highest quality experience for all The American Journey Experience visitors; acts as a positive role model.
Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have the aptitude to accurately enter data, count money and balance a cash drawer in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to problem solve and deal with a variety of guest questions and concerns.
- Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
- Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products (Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams).
- Knowledge of POS software management and Raiser’s Edge software preferred.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Must be a positive representative of The American Journey Experience both internally and externally at all times.
- Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.

Experience/Education:
- High school diploma / GED and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in admissions in a museum/cultural arts environment or similar type organization preferred.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Experience with non-profits a plus.
- Desire to learn and take on various types of responsibilities.
- A self-motivator, eager to learn and grow, a fast learner.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- A team player, must be able to work with people within and outside of the museum.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
