What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Coordinator position at Mercury Life Sciences?
We're looking for an organised and proactive Engineering Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of a busy engineering team within a regulated manufacturing environment.
This is a coordination-focused role rather than a design engineering position. You'll help manage engineering documentation, coordinate engineering changes, maintain workflow systems and reporting, and ensure projects move smoothly through the engineering process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career looking to develop within engineering operations, manufacturing support or technical administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering change requests (ECNs) from creation through to completion.
- Track the progress of engineering changes and follow up with stakeholders to keep projects moving.
- Support document control activities, ensuring engineering and manufacturing documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Maintain engineering records and ensure changes are correctly reflected within quality and production documentation.
- Produce weekly reports and dashboards using Excel, Power BI and Smartsheet to monitor engineering activity and key metrics.
- Organise engineering workflow systems, helping to improve visibility and efficiency across departments.
- Coordinate cross-functional meetings, track action items and communicate progress updates.
- Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate records and ensuring documentation is easily retrievable.
- Assist with the administration of engineering systems including D365 and Product Data Management (PDM) software.
- Identify opportunities to improve or automate engineering processes and workflows.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related field is preferred.
- 0-3 years' experience in engineering coordination, document control, manufacturing support, engineering operations or a similar technical environment.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or regulated industry is advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and reporting.
- Experience with Power BI, Smartsheet, D365 or similar business systems is beneficial.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Confident communicator who enjoys working with engineering, quality and manufacturing teams.
- A proactive mindset with an interest in improving processes and systems.
Why Apply?
This position offers the opportunity to join an established manufacturer where you'll play an important role in supporting engineering operations and continuous improvement. You'll gain exposure to engineering systems, quality processes and cross-functional projects while developing valuable experience within a collaborative technical environment.
