Security Officer

Responsibilities:

• To ensure a safe environment
• To make general safety inspections
• Access Management: enforce the entry and identification system which includes operating security screening equipment such as a Walkthrough Metal Detector, Bag check Machine and Handheld Wand to detect weapons, contraband and prohibited items.
• To maintain logs, incident reports and other records on a as-needed basis if and when incidents arise
• To document all discrepancies and breaches in security and other concerns
• To respond quickly to medical alarms, fire alarms calls, etc.
• To prevent, detect and appropriately control incidents of criminal activity
• To contact the appropriate law enforcement or emergency personnel, when necessary

Required work experience, skills and education:

• Education: High School Diploma
• 21 years of age
• Ability to obtain other client and contract specific licenses
• Needs to be able to read, write and speak English
• Ability to write reports
• Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels
• Possess basic computer skills
• Must be able to observe, walk, stand, sit, or drive for extended periods of time in various weather conditions; run, climb stairs, and carry fire extinguishers or other emergency equipment; help restrain or lift a person; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently required to use hands, handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
• Must have the ability to adjust focus; self- motivation and ability to work independent of immediate supervision
• Preferable: firearms experience
