Job Skills / Requirements
A Utility Worker / Floor Crew Technician is responsible for providing janitorial support services and specialized floor care maintenance to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in various environments and schedules.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Performing routine and deep cleaning services for commercial facilities, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Providing floor care services including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing, burnishing, carpet shampooing, and extraction.
- Operating floor machines, carpet extractors, auto scrubbers, vacuums, and other janitorial equipment safely and effectively.
- Assisting with special cleaning projects, emergency cleanups, spill response, and water extraction services as needed.
- Loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials between job sites.
- Driving company or personal vehicles to various service locations while maintaining a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment and supplies weighing 20 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Setting up and breaking down equipment for floor care and specialty cleaning services.
- Following all company safety procedures, site-specific protocols, and OSHA guidelines.
- Reporting maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to supervisors promptly.
- Maintaining professionalism, punctuality, and quality workmanship while working independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrating open availability, including the ability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, and emergency response assignments as required by operational needs.
Requirments:
- Previous janitorial, utility, floor care, or custodial experience preferred.
- Experience operating floor care equipment is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Reliable transportation required. (Driver is assigned company vehicle.)
- Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality required.
- Open and flexible availability required.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing job assignments.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
