Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist evaluates student needs and provides appropriate therapy services to support students with special needs in accessing their educational program. This role includes screening, assessment, intervention, and consultation to improve student participation and functional performance in the school setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate students to determine functional levels and identify areas of need
- Develop and implement therapy plans aligned to IEP goals
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services
- Conduct screenings, evaluations, and ongoing assessments
- Document, analyze, and interpret student progress data
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, families, and outside providers
- Recommend and support use of adaptive equipment and accommodations
- Assist with positioning, mobility, sensory processing, and motor skill development
- Provide training and guidance to staff to support student needs
- Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Maintain accurate records of services, equipment, and student progress
- Support procurement and maintenance of therapy equipment
- Supervise assistants and student interns as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Occupational Therapist Certification
- Knowledge of current occupational therapy practices and techniques
- Ability to support students with physical, sensory, and developmental needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to lift, transfer, and position students as needed
- Required criminal background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency
- Additional qualifications as determined by the Board of Education

Salary
- Following the established MCSSETA Salary Guide Step 1 $77,426.00
