SALARY: $46,395 - $62,259

SCHEDULE: The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, full-time. However, as part of the Division of Public Health within the Department of Public Health and Safety, which functions as an emergency response agency, the position may require occasional work outside of standard business hours in support of public health emergencies, community events, or response activities. This title is represented by a collective bargaining unit, and all schedule practices are subject to the terms and conditions memorialized in the applicable union contract.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Community Service Worker, Bilingual in Spanish and English supports public health programs by engaging directly with residents, conducting outreach in the community, and assisting with navigation and referrals to services. Working under the direction of supervisory staff, this position promotes local community resource programs, supports wellness education, and helps connect residents with public, non-profit, and County agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

• Four (4) years of professional experience in community relations work involving the promotion of local community resources or field work in a social service or public assistance program;
• Possession of a bachelor's degree

SPECIAL SKILL: Applicants must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in both Spanish and English at a proficient level to perform the duties of this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promote public health initiatives, community resources, and County programs to residents.
• Provide referrals and linkages to health, social service, and community-based supports.
• Assist individuals within the scope of County services; identify additional needs and coordinate with external agencies as appropriate.
• Support community events, educational workshops, outreach activities, clinics, and resource fairs.
• Explain program functions and services to residents in both English and Spanish.
• Prepare reports of community outreach activity; maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Utilize electronic and manual record systems in accordance with County procedures.
• Perform related duties as required in support of the Division's public health mission.

• Knowledge of community resources and services available to residents.
• Skill in promoting programs and encouraging residents to access support.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to identify additional service needs and refer appropriately.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse community members.
• Ability to learn and use electronic and manual record systems.
