Job Overview:
We have an immediate opening for an Assembly Intern position.
Reporting to the Assembly Manager, the Assembly Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of factory planning and engineering and helps to ensure that the ongoing plant expansion runs smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Learn or improve the German language; cultural exchange with German interns.
Learning ObjectiveWe value education and want to invite current students to work with us as they work towards their educational goals. Our main objective is to give students experience and real world issues organizations face each day. We believe in working with our interns on a work schedule that allows them to focus on school and homework. We also believe in paying our interns competitive wages. This position will allow the team member to gain insight to the workings of factory planning and engineering processes. This internship will expose the team member to all levels in the organization to assist in building a resume that will allow the team member to become competitive in the job market.
Applicants should be eager, driven, focused, hard-working individuals that are ready to assist a growing company with handling a complex multi-million dollar project. He or she should be willing to learn and be taught skills from experienced members of the engineering team. The individual should be self-motivated and interested in adding value and making a difference within an organization.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV Charleston”) is a Ladson, South Carolina–based production entity that manufactures Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
The Sprinter plant officially opened in 2018 and serves as a key part of the Mercedes-Benz Vans global production network. MBV Charleston was selected as the first plant in this network to produce the all-new eSprinter, beginning in 2024. The company also continues to invest in the local community through donations to non-profits and schools, as well as active support of STEM education initiatives and volunteer programs.
Since 2006, Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the United States. In 2025, the plant celebrated the assembly of the 5,000,000th Sprinter in the Mercedes-Benz global production network. The U.S. remains the second largest market for Sprinter vans after Germany.

Job Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Assist areas such as Trim, Chassis, End-of-Line or Quality Assurance in Production
- Process documentation
- Feasibility analysis of optimization projects
- Optimize daily processes with new ideas
- Overview and updated, detailed schedule
- Coordinate project steps with plant operations
- Read and interpret drawings when needed
- Assist and lead meetings
- Taking meeting minutes and KPI editing
- Process optimization of production line processes
- Improve quality transparency by creating dashboards
- Time studies and analysis of bottlenecks
- Process analysis and process improvement ideas and implementation
- Project planning using Microsoft planner
- Time studies and poke yoke implementations
- Assist where needed by the department or other areas
- Preferred studies in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information System Engineering or other related/similar fields
- Experience with Information Systems
- Experience with lean manufacturing and methodologies
- Understanding of OEE and manufacturing KPI's
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Power-BI and related software
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Interest in process optimization and problem-solving
- Having graduated within the past 12 months or currently working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business or relevant degree is required to participate in the intern program.
