About The Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Under general direction, plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and manages the staff and operations of assigned school(s), including physical site, budget, student activities, discipline, curriculum, communications, and articulation with MCOE, state and federal agencies, and other educational programs; participates in the development of policies and strategies for school operations; manages the effective use of school resources to improve productivity and service; provides complex and responsible support to assigned management personnel in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

Education and/or Training: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, public administration, or a related field. Credentials and/or Skills: Requires a valid CA Teaching Credential Hold CA Administrative Services Credential by hire date. (Certificate of Eligibility must be held with an Admin or Internship Eligibility Letter, and will need to be submitted). Requires a valid California driver’s license. DMV Driver Record printout upon hire. Experience: Five (5) years of classroom teaching experience and one (2) year in an administrative or leadership capacity.
