The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Under the direction of the assigned administrator, the Cybersecurity & User Support Manager plans, coordinates, and manages cybersecurity operations, user support services, and incident response activities that support the Merced County Office of Education (MCOE) and school districts within Merced County. This role oversees cybersecurity tools, user support workflows, endpoint management, threat detection, incident triage, and protection of digital assets across MCOE’s technology environment. The Cybersecurity & User Support Manager provides leadership in securing systems, safeguarding data, managing vulnerabilities, and ensuring high-quality technical assistance to end users. The Cybersecurity & User Support Manager combines advanced technical knowledge in cybersecurity, systems protection, and endpoint support with supervisory responsibility to ensure safe, dependable, and efficient delivery of technology services for MCOE and its partner districts.

Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience and 6 years of experience in cybersecurity and network or user support including at least 4 years of leadership or management experience. Degree Equivalency: In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, candidates may substitute eight (8) additional years of directly related, progressively responsible experience in information technology, cybersecurity, network support, user support, or a closely related field. Applicants qualifying through this equivalency must possess a total of fourteen (14) years of qualifying experience, including the required six (6) years of cybersecurity and network or user support experience and at least four (4) years of leadership or management experience.
