Mercado Consultants, Inc., located in Ashton, and Columbia, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer in our Bridge Inspection Department in Columbia, MD.

We are a rapidly growing, mid-sized engineering company with approximately 70 employees. Our company provides Construction Management, Civil and Structural Engineering, Surveying, Bridge Inspection and GIS services to many agencies within the Washington/Baltimore region.

Position Overview

Mercado Consultants is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Bridge Inspection Department. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, organizational, and administrative skills, and will support the team with editing, report preparation, and scheduling tasks. This position offers an opportunity to learn about bridge inspection procedures while contributing to a growing and dynamic engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

· Edit, organize, and proofread bridge inspection reports for grammar, formatting, and clarity.

· Assist with report compilation and document management using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.

· Maintain and track project deadlines and schedules for the bridge inspection team.

· Support the Department Head with administrative duties, including:

· - Staff timesheets and progress tracking.

· - Budget preparation and progress reporting.

· Learn the fundamentals of bridge inspection procedures and documentation standards.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA required).

· Strong writing and editing skills with excellent grammar.

· Experience in technical writing or document editing preferred.

· Highly organized and detail-oriented.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

· Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

· Interest in learning engineering documentation and inspection processes.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
