What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Estimator - Heavy Highway & Infrastructure Construction position at Merante?
The Assistant Estimator provides direct support to project estimating and management in the heavy, highway, infrastructure, site work, and concrete construction industry on projects ranging from $250,000 - $10 million. This position directly supports the Estimator to efficiently, successfully, and profitably complete assigned construction projects.
This position is an entry level position with an opportunity to grow with our company.
Responsibilities
- Take-offs
- Attendance at prebid, openings and project meetings
- Contract forms
- Solicitation for material and sub-contractor quotes
- Assistance, as requested, with project management and estimating
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have a B.S. Civil Engineering or Construction Management and\or 3 years of field management, engineering or estimating experience in heavy civil and structures, i.e. bridges, culverts road reconstruction, retaining walls, site work, underground utilities, excavation and earth moving.
Computer and Excel proficiency are required.
Additional preferred qualifications are:
- Experience in a construction office
- HCSS software and the PennDOT ECMS system experience
- Ability to travel locally for pre-bid conferences, site visits, bid reviews, and other purposes as needed to fully perform the functions of this position.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
