What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook/Prep Cook position at Meraki Cocktail Cafe?
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, works efficiently under pressure, and maintains high standards of cleanliness and quality. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking menu items to specification, and ensuring that all food is presented in an appealing and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards.
- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies before and during service.
- Follow portion and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency.
- Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, marinating, and seasoning.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure food is cooked to the proper temperature and meets quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
- Assist in receiving and properly storing food supplies.
- Follow all kitchen safety procedures, including proper knife handling and equipment use.
- Help with cleaning duties, including dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Support other kitchen team members as needed and be open to cross-training.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous kitchen experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in food preparation.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
