Position Details
Center for Hope is a drop-in Center in the city of Newburgh. Children ages 11-21 attend the Center on a daily basis. The Center provides after school homework help and offers a variety of workshops, as well as field trips to places in the tri-state area including NYC. The Center also offers after school snacks and a warm meal.
This job requires that the candidate enjoy working and engaging adolescents and has a very pleasant, cheerful, optimistic, disposition.
The requirements of the positions are:
- a creative outlook on how to engage and help empower adolescents
- a team spirit
- a sense of leadership
- the ability to organize interesting, fun, and challenging activities for the adolescents on daily and weekend schedules
- interact with the Newburgh School District, specifically, school counselors
- assist adolescents in becoming successful with their academics
- work pro-actively with parents
- assist with all aspects of planning menus and daily cooking
- drive members home in the afternoons which will require a valid driver's license and a willingness to drive a large passenger van
- will need to work Saturdays since the Center is open 6 days a week
- organize activities such as spelling bees, barbeques, snowtubing etc.
- assistant the program director in various capacities

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Human Services or Psychology.
- One year Human Services experience required.
