What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Solutions Engineer position at MEPPI?
POSITION SUMMARY
Serve as the technical lead for customer solutions by supporting proposal development, influencing design strategies and translating customer requirements into integrated, commercial offerings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Interface with Transportation Systems Division (TSD) management and related staff, Mitsubishi Electric (MELCO) overseas Marketing department, TSDs QA, Procurement, Operations, Field Service, Programs, and Engineering staff to support all technical proposals.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of technical proposals for transit system products and services in response to customer inquiries, bid requests, RFPs, and RFQs.
- Review customer specifications, technical requirements, and bid documentation to support the development of compliant technical proposals. Interface with customers as necessary to clarify the proposal.
- Assist in coordinating the internal bid review process, including supporting the preparation of bid review presentations and supporting documentation.
- Engage, interface and coordinate with engineering teams at MELCO and subcontractors for their technical involvement and responses related to technical specifications.
- Support customer-facing activities by assisting with clarification of technical aspects of proposals as they are part of the technical solution.
- Support Outside Sales in development of initial technical scopes to supply a solution or product configuration.
- Represent MEPPI at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical forums to support product discussions, gather market insights, deliver presentations, publish white papers and promote MEPPIs solutions.
- Develop and update sales aids and customer presentation material.
- Support and assist the Sales Department as needed.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of Transportation Systems Division through effective dealings with customers, vendors and internal departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of experience in sales support in the transit industry or related fields, or equivalent education and experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of transit industry product lines.
- Advanced written communications skills.
- Intermediate interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships with diverse customer and supplier groups.
- Intermediate skills in negotiating terms and conditions with customers.
- Intermediate ability to analyze technical products and market need to arrive at an appropriate product roadmap.
- Intermediate ability to communicate and influence customers and suppliers to adopt approaches that include MEPPI solutions.
- Intermediate ability to read and understand technical drawings and related materials.
