Job Description:
Compensation: Compensation for this role is $19.75/hour.

The Retail Associate champions weirdness, radical inclusion, and the power of creativity to change the world. Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Retail Associate creates an otherworldly shopping experience for our guests. Retail Associates will have expansive knowledge of our products, prepare and display merchandise and assist guests with their transactions. We encourage Retail Associate to elevate the narrative within our story world by executing their job duties with a performative and creative flair.

- Welcome guests to the exhibition and/or gift shop and answer their questions
- Perform job responsibilities with a creative flair that elevates the exhibition narrative
- Deliver a memorable guest experience through exceptional customer service
- Monitor crowds and assist with crowd control to ensure the safety of guests and staff
- Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
- Maintain in-stock and presentable conditions throughout the gift shop
- Process POS (point of sale) purchases and merchandise returns, re-stocking displays, etc.Receive product and stock the sales floor including: processing incoming shipments, merchandising products,
- Comply with inventory control procedures
- Report emergencies to the manager
- Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately
- Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain a pleasant environment for guests

Required Qualifications:
- Strong service skills and welcoming demeanor required.
- Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
- Basic computer skills.
- An interest in the arts.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in a retail, museum, park, recreation facility, or other public space.
- Prior experience with point-of-sale systems.
- Familiarity with inventory procedures.
- Conversationalist, impersonator or otherwise.Hidden talents that can be employed as part of the persona including singing, dancing, magic, comedy.
- Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Communicate with others to exchange information.
- Learn and operate point of sale systems.
- Follow and enforce safety rules.
- Maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work Environment:
This position works primarily in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects
including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces. May require work outdoors for
special events or critical functions.
Physical Demands:
Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Positioning or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Work Schedule:
- This position has an effective start date on or after 05/19/2025, with the position ending no later than 08/31/2025
- This position is seasonal. We are looking for those who have evening, weekend and holiday availability.
