Role Responsibilities
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area, including floors, walls, drains, and shelving.
- Ensure all kitchenware and dishware are thoroughly cleaned, dried, and stored properly.
- Monitor dish machine temperature and chemicals to ensure safe and effective sanitation.
- Take out kitchen trash, recyclables, and compost regularly, ensuring proper disposal and cleanliness of waste areas.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and appliances as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled, including walk-in coolers, ovens, hoods, and drains.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Support kitchen prep work or basic food prep tasks as needed and as directed.
- Restock dish area and kitchen with necessary supplies at the start and end of each shift.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to support service flow and resolve issues quickly.
- Prior experience in a restaurant or food service setting preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as with a team.
- Must be able to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and maintain a sense of urgency.
- Open to receiving feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals.
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Shifts typically range from 4 to 8 hours depending on business needs.
- May be asked to assist or fill in for other back-of-house positions if cross-trained and needed.
