Mentor A Promise is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth (ages 5–18) experiencing housing instability, grounded in the belief that every child is a Promise—full of potential, dignity, and possibility. About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, education, social-emotional learning (SEL), and creative expression. MAP prioritizes feedback, reflection, and continuous improvement to ensure programs are responsive, effective, and grounded in dignity.

Listening to mentors, volunteers, parents, and students is essential to building programs that work—and to sustaining trust across the community.

About Program Engagement & Continuous Improvement

Program Engagement & Continuous Improvement focuses on understanding participant experience and translating feedback into meaningful action. This function designs engagement tools, analyzes insights, and supports program leaders in making data-informed improvements that strengthen program quality and relationships.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Program Engagement Lead to design and manage engagement surveys, analyze feedback, and support continuous improvement across MAP programs. This role ensures that volunteer, mentor, and parent voices are captured thoughtfully and used responsibly to inform program decisions.

The Program Engagement Lead works closely with the Director of Programs, Program Manager, and Parent Engagement Specialist to align feedback tools, share insights, and develop improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage anonymous volunteer and mentor engagement surveys
  • Analyze feedback to assess satisfaction, engagement, and overall program experience
  • Identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement across programs
  • Develop data-informed recommendations and improvement initiatives
  • Present insights, findings, and proposals to the Director and Program Manager
  • Create and maintain a parent engagement survey in collaboration with the Parent Engagement Specialist
  • Support ethical, non-punitive use of feedback and data
  • Maintain organized records and documentation of findings
  • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via email and chat in Google Workspace

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort presenting insights and recommendations to leadership
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with surveys, feedback tools, or program evaluation
  • Familiarity with youth-serving or nonprofit environments
  • Experience using spreadsheets or basic data analysis tools
  • Comfort collaborating across program, engagement, and leadership teams
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or quality assurance efforts

Commitment

  • Volunteer role
  • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
  • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
  • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration
