Position: Clinical Director
Department: Clinical
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Summary: This is a full-time, exempt position. The Clinical Director is responsible for oversight and implementation of all agency clinical/outpatient/Case Management and residential programs. Direct reports include all program managers, the outpatient clinic, schools, and the Housing Team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain community contacts related to the operation of all programs.
- Responsible for clinical oversight and compliance for all programs.
- Attend Community meetings to participate in the planning and addressing of client needs relevant to the agency.
- Attend community meetings, including City Council, Board of Supervisors, Mental Health Board, Suicide Prevention Council, and Behavioral Health Committee, etc., related to the delivery of agency services, including for the purpose of client advocacy.
- Write program/progress reports to agency funders on an as-needed basis according to the specific guidelines of the funding source.
- Oversee, track, and maintain relevant statistical data and outcome data for all programs and reports to funders.
- Respond to emergencies during business hours as well as off-hours.
- Provide after-hours clinical coverage to agency clients and staff via cell phone and assist with housing after-hours coverage.
- Provide clinical supervision to staff pursuing licensure.
- Provide administrative oversight, via program managers, for all staff working in clinical/housing programs.
- Meet or speak with agency clients on an as-needed basis to resolve any issues or problems that arise pertaining to agency services.
- Address and resolve any personnel matters that arise with the clinical staff.
- Interview, hire, and train new clinical staff with input/assistance from the Executive Director and other managers.
- Complete performance evaluations/work plans for all direct reports and ensure they are completed by managers/supervisors for all other clinical staff on an annual basis.
- Revise program forms and documents on an as-needed basis to reflect any changes in guidelines and requirements.
- Revise and develop program/clinical policies with input from the Executive Director and other agency managers.
- Develop and track clinical staff schedules to meet client needs, as well as approve vacation/time-off requests with help from program managers.
- Oversee daily operations and provide direction to all program/clinical staff on an as-needed basis.
- Help ED develop internal infrastructure and operating systems, as well as develop policies and protocols for new projects.
- Assist the Executive Director in budget development and contract management.
- Take a prominent role in hiring agency clinical staff.
- Oversee compliance related to County contracts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree and Current Licensure in California as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Clinical Psychologist, or LPCC.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience in a mental health setting (5 years preferred).
- At least 2 years of experience providing clinical supervision to interns.
