Duties Description
Buffalo Psychiatric Center (BPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited hospital, is recruiting a Psychiatrist 3, Director of Inpatient Psychiatry, to provide clinical and administrative oversight of medical staff assigned to adult inpatient units.
The Director of Inpatient Psychiatry will directly supervise all inpatient psychiatry providers to ensure inpatient treatment programs align with the clinical mission of patient-centered care at BPC. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Providing clinical and administrative supervision, evaluation, and development of inpatient medical staff.
• Collaborating with BPC leadership in the development and support of clinical programs and initiatives.
• Mentoring and training resident physicians, medical students, APP students, and fellows.
• Assisting with recruitment, retention, and scheduling of department providers, ensuring 24/7 coverage of service.
• Overseeing the quality of treatment services provided by medical staff and ensuring compliance with OMH standards.
• Conducting case reviews, providing treatment recommendations, participating in treatment planning, and providing direct clinical care to patients as needed.
• Collecting and analyzing data related to quality and performance metrics and resolving identified deficiencies in the quality of care.
• Participating in Administrator-On-Call coverage.
Buffalo Psychiatric Center (BPC) is a Joint Commission accredited Office of Mental Health facility providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals 18 years of age and over. BPC offers a network of inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, vocational, residential, and peer services in Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Niagara counties. Minimum Qualifications
• Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State; and
• Certification in psychiatry by the ABPN; and
• Two (2) years of post-board certification experience as a member of the psychiatric staff in a psychiatric hospital and/or in the psychiatry department of a general hospital, one (1) year of which must have included clinical supervision of other psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, or fellows.
