LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER (LSW) – Behavioral Health / Mental Health

Mental Health Kokua (MHK) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Licensed Social Worker (LSW) to join our behavioral health and mental health services team. In this clinical social work role, you’ll provide direct services including psychosocial assessments, behavioral health case management, supportive counseling, and resource coordination—helping clients achieve stability, self-sufficiency, and community connection. You’ll also supervise staff or interns within scope, provide trainings, and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.

As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, MHK is Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible for federal student loan forgiveness.

Licensed Social Worker Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized service plans in collaboration with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide behavioral health case management, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy within LSW scope of practice.
• Identify and connect clients with community resources, housing, and health care services.
• Supervise staff or interns (within scope) and conduct trainings on best practices, compliance, and clinical skills.
• Prepare and maintain accurate, confidential documentation for audits and program requirements.
• Collaborate with health care providers, agencies, and community partners to ensure integrated, culturally responsive care.
• Participate in program meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

Licensed Social Worker Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution.
• Valid Hawaii Licensed Social Worker (LSW) license.
• Supervised social work experience per Hawaii licensing requirements.
• Experience in behavioral health, mental health services, or clinical social work preferred.
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and safety inspection.
• Current TB Clearance, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Knowledge of case management principles, social service systems, and community resources.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and travel to various service locations.
