Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Contractor Compliance Officer to oversee and ensure adherence to contractual obligations, legal standards, and regulatory requirements across various projects. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensiveWe are looking for Behavioral Health Compliance Officer to ensures that our mental health use disorder treatment programs comply with state (COMAR 10.63, 10.09) and federal (42 CFR) regulations. Conduct audits, investigate complaints, develop policies, and ensure quality care standards, often working within the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration (BHA).
Key Job Responsibilities
- Audit & Monitoring: Conducting announced and unannounced on-site or desk audits of licensed community-based mental health and substance use disorder programs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Interpreting and enforcing federal and state regulations, including COMAR 10.63, COMAR 10.09, and 42 CFR parts 2 and 8.
- Investigation: Investigating complaints against providers and ensuring compliance with grants and conditions of participation.
- Policy Development: Assisting in writing standard operating policies and procedures regarding compliance and quality improvement.
- Reporting & Training: Identifying trends in compliance issues, recommending improvement actions, and providing training to providers on regulatory changes.
Qualifications & Requirement
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (sometimes Master’s preferred) in nursing, psychology, public health, or a health-related field.
- Experience: Several years of professional experience in health compliance, behavioral health services, or auditing.
- Knowledge: Expertise in medical records documentation, HIPAA/privacy laws, and behavioral health billing/coding.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end contractor compliance process, including review, approval, and ongoing monitoring of contracts to ensure alignment with organizational policies and legal standards.
- Conduct thorough document management and review of contracts, proposals, and related legal documentation utilizing systems
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations by conducting regular audits and assessments of contractor activities.
- Familiarity with document review processes and records management systems
- Proficiency in ERP systems l
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in document management and change control procedures.

Pay: $45,553.31 - $50,000.61 per year
